The award will be made on the recommendation of the Director of the Institute of Islamic Studies if the recipient is a graduate student or by the Faculty of Arts if the recipient is an undergraduate student.
Established in 2011, by an anonymous graduate and supporter, in honour of Wilfred Cantwell Smith, founder of the Institute of Islamic Studies.
The Fellowship will be for one or more outstanding graduate students in the Institute of Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Arts, and will be awarded on the basis of academic merit by the Institute.
